FAQ

  • You’ll know when we know. It’ll be on the top of our main War Eagle page.

  • Each finisher will receive a finishers medal. Top 3 Male & Female finishers in each race will receive handmade awards.

  • We love to see kids out on the trails and fully support their participation. Contact us at wareaglerace@gmail.com if your kiddo is under 14 so we can cover some things.

  • Yes. Park Ranger Fred offers his property near the start line for camping overnight on Friday for $10 per vehicle. Email us at wareagletrailraces@gmail.com if you want to claim a spot. It's primitive. No water or electricity but there will be fresh portapots there.

  • Friends of Hobbs State Park and the Rogers Community Development Fund to assist with the Rogers Lions Club Scholarship program.

  • There are 3 official aid stations along the courses that each distance will pass at various times. Two of them are located on Townsends Ridge Rd. (dirt road) with one at each of the Little Clifty trail crossings. One close to the south end where the big trail head parking lot is located (Mustache Running Club + Ozark Trail Runners) and the other just off Hwy 12 on the north end of the road (Shnutt Hut aka Renfro's Rest). For spectators, they are welcome to cheer you on at aid stations but please note that Townsends Ridge Rd will be closed on race day between the two aid stations as this is part of the 10k course. So getting from one aid station to the next will require using Piney Rd. The third official aid station is located at the Piney Rd (paved) trail head (We need a name for this group). For 50k runners, there will be an "unofficial" aid station (marked with the * below) located where Bashore Ridge and Dutton Hollow intersect. Y'all will pass this station 3 times in the 7 miles on the Bunny Ears.

    All of the usual fare will be there: cold water, ice, Gatorade, salty and sweet snacks, some fruit, and you can expect some "extras" from our amazing volunteers. Remember to give them some love as you go through.

  • Our event is a little unique in that you run from one location to another. All races start on the historic War Eagle Bridge and end at the Hobbs State Park Visitors Center. We can transfer a drop bag with finish line items for you to the Visitors Center. In addition, 25 and 50k runners can bring a drop bag for use during the race. These will be taken to the Piney Rd aid station for you. Those runners will pass Piney Rd at miles 9, 16 and 26. These drop bags will be taken to the finish line after the Piney Rd aid station closes at about 1:30PM. You can retrieve your bag from there before then if necessary. Just bring your drop bag and make sure to place it in the correct pile: Finish Line or Piney Rd aid station.

  • We will provide shuttle service beginning at 9:00AM through the end of the race.

  • Yes. Once we hit capacity for that distance, no more registrations will be accepted. There is no late registration and no wait list.

  • The course is open for 8 hours. 10k and 25k runners have 8 hours to complete their courses. 50k runners must maintain a 15:00 pace. The following hard cut offs will be enforced:

    You must pass the Piney Rd aid station (the second aid station at mile 9) by 8:45am before starting the Bunny Ears. If you are late here you will be directed to follow the 25k course.

    You must pass the Hwy 12 aid station (Mile 20) by 11:30am to begin your second loop. If you are late here you will be directed to the finish line.

  • Photographers will be on course to capture photos of the day which will be available at no charge to all of you. Once photos are ready, we will post links on FB and the website.

  • Ultimately, AR State Parks has the last word as they permit the event. There’s some wiggle room if the weather looks sketchy. We could delay for up to 3 hours and still get things done. Any updates will be posted to the Facebook Page.

  • The NWA Beginner Trail Running: War Eagle 10k group is a great group for those of you that would like to have some company out at Hobbs for training runs. Volunteer created and led. Meet some good people that pretty much know everything about the race. Group runs usually begin in mid to late April.

  • Courses are marked with ribbon at least every 1/2 mile. Keep your color on your left hand side.

    BLUE = 10k

    ORANGE = 25k

    PINK = 50k

    All of the trails we will use are also marked frequently with WHITE blazes on the trees. You will see more blazes than ribbon. If you go a while and don’t see your color ribbon or WHITE blazes, well, you might be off course, probably a good idea to stop and check before you keep going. If you hit Beaver Lake, you're definitely off course. Links to course maps are listed on the website. It your responsibility to have a working knowledge of the course. The markers and arrows are there to help.
